Beechwood
The color of the beech wood lumber varies from a pale creamy pink to a dark orangey tan. The
grain is tight and fine, moderately-curvy on the face-grain, almost invisible on the edge-grain
with the exception of the prominent medullary rays. The wood often features in Scandinavian
kitchen designs or any other decors calling for a light, clean, minimalistic yet sleek layout. The
wood is hard, dense and resistant to wear and tear. It is necessary to apply a finish with very
good sealing properties on this type of wood as it tends to react very strongly to the
environmental humidity by swelling and respectively shrinking. Together with the oak, it is the
best candidate when it comes to staining provided that the stain doesn’t clash with its natural
undertones.
