Alder wood
Light-brown, with reddish or yellowish undertones, this is a versatile wood that radiates
warmth. Its relatively straight grain makes it suitable for any classic design and, when knotty, it can add a nice rustic accent. It is a rather soft wood with low stiffness so the counter should be thoroughly supported throughout its entire width and depth. The very same softness, however,
makes it an excellent candidate for distressing When exposed to sunlight, the wood might develop an amber, honey-like patina over time. The wood tends to blotches when stained so it works very well when trying to mimic reclaimed barn wood, weathered or charred wood.
